Tricks to Use to Stop Dog Chasing

Uncategorized No Comments »

There are many different problems that dog owners have to address with their dogs.  Some of these involve barking problems, digging problems and even jumping up on people. The best way to solve these issues is to prevent them before they start, training puppies to be very obedient and live up to expectations through consistent reinforcement of the proper behaviors.  Another training issue that sometimes comes up is to stop dog chasing since it can be dangerous to the dog as well as the individuals involved. There are different methods to use to stop dog chasing and preventing this problem requires that the individual be consistent with whatever method he chooses to use.

Prevention

One way to stop dogs from chasing cars is to never allow the dog to be outside without supervision and a leash.Dogs should never be allowed to run outside since they endanger themselves and others when they come near the road.  Even if the individual lives in a rural area where there are not many cars, the dog should be trained to stay within its yard, or territory, so that it does not get into the road and cause an accident. This will also stop a dog from chasing individuals or other animals that come around the dog’s territory.Allowing a dog to chase people or other animals is endangering the dog as well as other creatures. This also helps to create aggression in the dog, something that dog owners do not want to foster in their family dog.

When the dog is chasing the owner or playing with him, the owner should never give the dog any reinforcement of that behavior.Even though playing chase can be fun, it creates an aggressive behavior in the dog as well as the chasing behavior that the owner would not want to occur around visitors to the home.  The way to stop dog chasing is to refuse to run away from the dog when he tries to play in this manner.  The individual should turn his back to the dog and refuse to give the dog attention when it exhibits this behavior. When the dog decides to calm down, then the individual should turn his attention to the dog in other to give it praise.Another way to help to reinforce good behavior and stop dog chasing is to tell the dog to sit when it is in the process of starting the chase behavior.  When the dog sits, the owner should give it attention so that the positive behavior is reinforced and the negative behavior is avoided.

Can A Dog Really Be Bad?

Uncategorized No Comments »

When the owner terms the dog as bad, perhaps they should look at their own behavior. It’s irritating when walking down the sidewalk in your own neighborhood only to have a dog jump up on your clean clothes. When your front yard is the chosen venue for the next door dog to leave his many calling cards, this is also frustrating. These dogs are only as irritating as the children who have not learnt any lessons in life; and you call them bad dogs?

What can you say about pets and kids who belong to homes where the adults are not responsible themselves? It is wise decision to take the help of a dog trainer to learn the tricks of handling this pet without spoiling its personality. Either you contact your vet office or pet store to get to meet a trainer or seek online help from a dog training book or from online dog training tips and tackle your pet problem before it goes out of hand. A section of this training is involved with tutoring the owner how to handle his pet.

Trainers have been heard to comment that dogs are easer to train to be obedient than their handlers. Dogs that must be leash trained for walking in public or at the park need practice; this begins around the yard or in a smaller location. Owner and other residents get irritated when these animals bark even if it is a typical occurrence. Shouting or punishing your pet for engaging in this normal communication is counterproductive - as well as confusing to the animal.

So why does a dog bark?
When a dog needs attention, something to eat or drink, it will resort to barking. A Dog barking can be good burglar alarm and training them to stop isn’t always a good idea. It is not a good idea having your puppy bark, even during play if you are likely too shout at him when he barks as an adult. Any trainer can teach you skills on how to get the desired conduct from your puppy using the carrot as opposed to the stick.

How do you make your new puppy stop the undesired behavior?
Once your pet is rewarded regularly for good behavior they will begin to stop displaying the negative traits. There are many behaviors which are part of the breed of the dog so it is important to remember that you can teach your pet to go against these. You should look into breeds that exhibit particular characteristics if you want them from your pet.

When does a dog become good?
Well, when you train them with patience, resolve and of course, a great deal of affection.

Considering A Mastiff Puppy? Look A These Tips!

Uncategorized No Comments »

Caring for a mastiff can be the same as caring for any other dog; they need to be trained from young, have a good exercise routine, a good diet and must be groomed and cleaned regularly. Mastiffs can be by nature a very lazy breed and are very comfortable lying by the couch all day, every day. Because of this it is important that you teach your mastiff from a pup and give your mastiff a good routine. Their tendency of laziness is why Mastiff training should be very firm.

It is recommended that you take your mastiff on walks at least twice a day to help them maintain their large build. If you have a back yard then it is ok to walk your mastiff once a day as they can walk around the yard. But if you live in an apartment it is recommended to walk your dog at least twice a day so that they can get a regular exercise.

Mastiff puppies need a good and regular diet to help them stay healthy. After they have been separated from their mothers they should be fed about four times a day to help them to grow strong and healthy. As your mastiff gets older you can start to lower the amount of food you give him on a daily basis to twice a day. Make sure to give your mastiff a balanced diet of meat and dried food.

Grooming a mastiff is generally a very easy process, so you won’t have to spend hours a week combing through fur. They are naturally shedders (watch out in the spring time!), so you don’t have to work so hard when you brush them. They do have natural oils in their coat to help protect their skin, to take extra care not to over-wash your mastiff; about once a month should work nicely.

Mastiffs are a very gentle breed that, if looked after in the proper manner, will be a very important part of your family life. These dogs are great with children but also great as guard dogs as they will protect the house where the family lives whilst the dog is there. There are several different variations of the mastiff breed, including bull mastiffs, English mastiffs, and American mastiffs. If you decide to have a mastiff as a companion and you look after him properly, you will have a friend for life.

Soft Dog Crates

Uncategorized No Comments »

I hope that you understand why you should get a crate for your dog. Some people think that a crate is like a cage and they are not going to make their pet stay in it!  First, please don’t call it as a cage.  Think of it as a safe place  that your dog knows he can go to.  Remember, dogs are pack animals, even though we try and forget that!  When dogs were wild they slept together in dens.  Their homes underground were secure so others wouldn’t find them.  When they all slept together, there was always a feeling of security .  The dens were usually small, just large enough to turn around in, lie down and feel comfortable.  This is the same security that they have in their crate.  They feel safe and secure and it is a cozy home for them to call only theirs.  You can also think of it as their own room, just as you have your own room.

When you first got your puppy, it was wise for you to get them used to staying in their crate, especially overnight and when you were not home.If you follow this way of educating them to only relieve themselves outside, it is a fast way.The best way to secure your pet when in the car is by putting them in their crate? When a pet has been securely placed in their kennel for travel, they don’t want to be out of the crate when in the car.  They feel safe and secure.  Of course, while you were training them to go potty only when you brought them outside, the crate bedding that you provided your puppy wasn’t the best and most comfortable.  If your pet is past the training stage, for them to be really comfortable, you should get them a nice comfortable mat to put in their crate.  That is why I am so glad that you found my site about dog crate bedding.

This is another reason that a dog crate is so important while your dog is still a puppy.Puppies will use chew-toys and most anything else to ruin when they are getting their adult teeth.  Giving them a toy to chew on helps, but also having them in their crate while you can’t be with them all the time, really saves on the shoes, couch legs, table legs, and I’m sure you can probably add a few others!

We are the proud owners of a mix-breed and love her a lot.In all probability, a lot like you treat your pet.She is a bit over 9 years and isn’t moving as fast as she used to.  We have put a new mat in her crate and she seems to really enjoy it.  It has a small rim around the outer edge, just enough so she can rest her head on it while looking out of her crate door.  And it is machine washable!  Something you really need to consider when deciding on your dog’s bedding.

While we were researching the dog crate bedding, I found that it was hard to find online. This is the reason that this site is just for bedding for your dog.Bookmarks are great to use, especially to make it back here to read more pages of pet info.  I want to keep it up-to-date for you and everyone else that is looking for bedding for your dog.  I hope you have found this a little helpful.  Please leave a comment if you’d like and share some of your experiences about your dog.  Thank you for stopping by!

You Can Learn The Quickest Ways For Potty Training Puppies Here

Uncategorized No Comments »

There are many reasons why most people just love to own puppies for a pet. Some people want them for companionship, others for protection or perhaps for income, but whatever their intentions are for owning one, potty training puppies is one of the most important things an owner needs to learn first.

Well if you are a first timer or just beginning to parent a cute and adorable puppy, you need not to worry. Potty training a puppy is one of the most challenging jobs, indeed; however, it does not have to be as complicated or traumatic as what you expect it to be. Here are the quickest ways to house train your precious pet successfully:

Designate a potty spot- whether you leash, crate, outdoor, or indoor train your puppy, you have to pick the spot and be consistent where you want him to go potty. Some use a litter box, a wee pad, or a newspaper for indoor or crate training, while a specific area in the yard would be great for outdoor or leash training. Be sure to introduce that spot to your puppy with supervision and make him/her use it in a regularly until it gets familiar with it.

Using commands or trigger words - as most puppies have instincts to learn and obey to a command, it's most important to be consistent when selecting a phrase or word when you want it to do something. Like young babies, young puppies will have to listen and learn your language before they will understand and do things. Do not confuse them with difficult and varying commands, instead, use any term that is short and easy to recognize like "go potty" or "go poop" if you want them to.

Keep your puppy on a schedule- this is the key to potty training puppies success. Aside from playing or feeding feeding your puppy at a certain time, you also have to create a timetable when you need to take your puppy out to go potty on a regular basis. Puppies that are very young may have the need to go outside around every 30 minutes in the daytime as their ability to feel the need to do their business has not developed yet. Nevertheless, you can train them to become sensitive and accustomed to a schedule, as they grow older.

Do not scold them- they are like babies that often make mistakes so you always have to be patient in potty training puppies. If the puppy misses or has an accident, just be gentle and say "no-no" and try again. Rewarding a pup for a task he/she has accomplished - when your puppy has been successful, use words and or phrases like "good boy/gir," or "very good" to praise the puppy or treat the dog with a tast snack to let it know it is being rewarded for a job well done. Remember, puppies are smart by nature so praising or rewarding them might be a good way to encourage them to follow a routine.

Some Ideas For Selecting The Best Pet Crate Covers

Uncategorized No Comments »

Most people who get a puppy do some level of crate training. While crates can be a wonderful training tool they can also be very unattractive. Shopping at your local pet store you probably won’t find any crates that will match your decorating style. Most often they are metal or plastic monstrosities. This will not be a big issue if you will use your crate in the garage or for traveling.

But many of us prefer to have Fido indoors which means the crate will be in our homes. There are a few things you can do to avoid an ugly crate. The two biggest options available to your are to purchase a crate cover or buy a crate that looks like furniture.

Dog crate covers are made in a wide variety of fabrics. Dog crate covers come in almost any color or style you can think of. Since they are designed to fit snugly over your crate you will need to take care and order the right size.

Dog crate covers are a simple and inexpensive way to improve the looks of your dog crate. The will also help to create a safe and cozy environment for your dog. Many dogs appreciate the den feeling that adding a crate cover provides. Often you can find crate covers for less than forty dollars. If you want something other than a crate cover consider purchasing a crate made to look like furniture. One popular option is a wicker crate. These crates do not clean out easily like plastic and metal so you should wait until your dog is potty trained to use wicker. There are also designer crates out there that double as other pieces of furniture. Most of these type of crates hide the crate area under a table top. These crates will not be cheap or easy to clean so it makes sense to hold off on buying one until you know your dog is house trained.

Potty Training Puppies Made Easy

Uncategorized No Comments »

Probably one of the biggest headaches involved in having dogs for pets is potty training puppies. They do not have a button you can push to have them do their business and they cannot comprehend any verbal command unless they were trained to do so. Getting a puppy to do its business where and when you want it to does not involve rocket science. The one major requirement one needs to complete this task is a large amount of patience. Just as long as you stay consistent with your dog training, you'll have no problems potty training a puppy.

Having them heed the call of nature by understanding their nature

Animals are instinctive; they do not weigh any sort of pros or cons before making a decision. Knowing this can assist to a great degree in knowing how to potty train pups. Puppies are like sponges ready to soak up information, they have the instincts but, for the most part, are still in the trial and error phase of finding out how to meet certain needs. Urinating and defecating is a drive but, contrary to what most people think, puppies don't just stop whatever they are doing and do their business. Keep your eye on them when they get the urge, puppies often run around looking and sniffing until they find a good spot and then do what they need to do.

This is where the training in potty training puppies comes in. You have to teach your puppy to decide on a specific location to do their business so each time that they get the urge to go potty they go precisely where you want them to go. How do you do it? You will need something with a musky or earthy scent, something distinct that when they smell they can easily associate with either urinating or defecating. You can purchasecommercially manufactured potty training sprays in pet stores or you can go hands-on and put a small amount of your pet's urine in a spray bottle when it does its business.

Whether you decide on the commercial spray or the hands-on method, the conditioning phase remains the same: when your puppy shows signs of needing to go potty, prepare a large pile of newspapers and keep your god within the area of the newspaper. Spray a little amount of the scent-spray on the newspaper. Allow the puppy to move around the location and get comfortable. Once the puppy does its business gently hold its head near the spot you sprayed the agent close enough for the puppy to sniff the scent. Duplicate this for about 12 weeks each and every time the dog needs to do its business.

Doing the steps talked about already can get you either two results or both. The puppy can equate going potty to a newspaper or the scent which means that whenever the puppy needs to go, it will either look for a newspaper or sniff around to find that scent, either result will lead to a properly potty trained pup and care free maintenance for you.

As mentioned earlier potty training puppies requires a generous amount of patience but aside from that it is actually a pretty easy thing to do.

The Basics of Dog Grooming

Uncategorized No Comments »

Dog grooming can be very expensive if you visit a pet grooming salon. But that’s no excuse to take chances with your dog’s health and well being by neglecting its grooming. Similar to humans, dogs need to be pampered occasionally so that they not only look better but feel special.

Fortunately, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on dog grooming. It’s not that hard to groom your dog on your own right at home. All you have to do is purchase some pets grooming tools and supplies and follow these tips on how to properly groom your pet.

The place to start is with your dog’s coat. Cleaning and grooming your pet’s coat is essential if you want to keep pests such as fleas from making their home in it. A critical pet grooming tool is a brush with soft bristles. It’s important to give your dog a good brushing each day so that its coat doesn’t become matted. Brushing also makes the coat shine since it distributes the natural oils throughout the length of the hair. By getting rid of the hair that’s dead or dying, it will cut down on the amount of shedding your dog does.

Also, the dog’s coat should be clipped every month or so, depending on the length. If you want to do this on your own, you need to have clippers or trimmers, scissors, a brush or a comb, a blow dryer, and towels.

Next, when it comes to bathing your dog, you need to get a good dog shampoo and soap, towels, comb, and brush. Prior to bathing, brush out the coat so it doesn’t get hopelessly tangled in the water. You have to bathe the dog every month (for dogs with long hair) or every two months (for short-haired dogs). It might also need supplementary baths in certain circumstances, like when it has rolled around in the mud or something smelly. Regular bathing will prevent your dog from getting fleas and other skin diseases. It also keeps the dog smelling nice and feeling clean.

Dog grooming also involves nail clipping. Your dog’s nails grow just like yours and longer nails can do a lot of damage to your home. They might also break off, which would be painful for your pet. So you need to trim your dog’s nails on a monthly basis. This isn’t like clipping your own nails because a dog’s nails are shaped differently and are much thicker. You’ll need to use a dog nail trimmer. You should also have some blood-clotting powder handy if the need arises.

Twice a month, check your dog’s ears for fleas and infections. Then use warm water, mineral oil and cotton balls to get them clean.

Lastly, it’s not just humans who need to keep their teeth clean. Dogs too can get cavities and other unhealthy conditions on their teeth and gums. You need pet toothpaste and a toothbrush to clean the mouth twice a week.
